Hello AB2531 and welcome to the forum.

Actually the .NDS File does have a [SECTION] related to formations, but for the [OFFICERS]. This is to designate which type of soldier can make use of a specific formation and the officer(+drummer&Flag).

The actual form of the (or amounts of units) is defined in orders.lst. You can use one of the already existing formations there or supposedly add a new one, though I havent tried that.

There is also ord_groups.lst. This contains the actual amount of formations that are being used in the [OFFICERS] .nds Section.

And then finally NRES.dat contains the set up of the icons for the formations.

Now, if you want it "like" the Allied_Offensive Mod, then i suggest you have a look in to these file's of the mod and see what has been changed.

I am just making a mod for my own, if I find it cool enough I may release it like my Company of Heroes mod (NHCmod). I have changed the stat of some units to be more realistic and the number of squad available in the "Battle of Europe" mode.
