Introduction

This information has been written for everyone that is interested in the pc game Cossacks. There are 3 official versions of the original Cossacks game : European Wars, The art of war and Back to war. This very successful game has been followed up by Cossacks II : Napoleonic Wars and Battle For Europe.

This section will only deal with the original version of the Cossacks game. Cossacks II is quite a different game, where as the 3 original versions are very much alike each other and the difference in between these version is merely up to new nations, new missions or new units that are included, but the game play doesn’t change.

The information will not only be useful for new and inexperienced players, but as well for more experienced or advanced players. Even for those that want to mod the game or just make a nice mission of their own for a 17th or 18th century battle, there are plenty of tools and information.

I gathered the information throughout the years from many different sites who are unfortunately not all active anymore, online experience, heated discussions,...

As this is a rather complex game, I will tackle every subject bit by bit, because the alternative is to explain everything in a complex way that only expert users will be able to understand. So, if you have read this information, and you understand it all, when you are able to combine it all and apply this in to your game play then you may call yourself an advanced player. All that is between you and the experts, is well, experience…

"...the best way to learn Cossacks is still by playing with more experienced players and analyze your game records afterwards to learn from your mistakes…"

I have been playing the game since the first demo of European Wars and always liked the game very much, and still do up untill today. Since cdv doesn’t support their old Cossacks site with information and patches any longer, it’s up to the fans to make sure the information doesn’t get lost and make the most of it…

In case you notice an obvious error, or you don’t agree entirely with a something in then information, I urge you to  post a comment on the forum. I will happily look in to it and alter anything that is necessary.
Just browse trough the different categories in the navigation bar on top of the site.
