Assertion error graphics mode not supported

| Sorry if this is in the wrong area but I could not find a bugs section.
I have a win 7 64bit PC with the GTX 660 as my graphics card(updated my drivers today).
I have tried comp mode and enabling the settings below.
I have tried the patch fix on this website.

| Quote Keep in mind that it is a an old game, and take note that no verson of Cossacks 2 works properly on 64bit operating systems (Vista and 7) with
the expection of the Steam one. it was not built for 64 bit OS. I think
the installer looks for the file path for Windows XP and 2000 etc to try
and find the game. As Vista and 7 use a different registry file paths
the installer can't detect the game and therefore thinks it is not
installled. Becuase of this I think that the problem can never be solved
unless you play it on Windows XP. I was personally greatfull that steam
gave one the works on windows 7!.

Which version of the game is this?
Which patch did you install?
And which resolution are you trying to run this on?

| It is from steam and from research i think it is 1.1 (havent been able to get in the game to check).
the fix I tried to use was.

| Right, and which screen resolution are you running this on?
Also , could you post the content of data\log.txt?
And this error occurs when you start the game? or when you are ingame?

| TV res is 1920x1080. Game res - I don't know haven't even been able to get to the start screen, screen goes black just after start then I get that error.
erm.. The log.txt is empty.

| Thats a very large monitor resolution. Have you tried lowering it, to say 1280x768 and see what that gives?
Edit: In case i wasnt clear ' the graphics mode is not supported' means the screen resolution.
