in my opinion archers should be able to shoot about 200 yards, with a killing potential of 1/3 a normal units life. cross bow men maybe 1/2

I think the building layouts get stale after a while with the usual barracks, market, mill.
I would definetly favor a tavern or brothel type building for mercenaries to bring back the feeling of cc1.
Or a medic from a brothel if you know what I mean..... happy

Kinda off topic but,

Another implementation I am hoping to have it each nations buildings (mainly castles, towers/keeps etc.) with feature the nations flag and colour on top.

And where possible on units also have the nations coat of arms on them, either on a shield, clothing etc. even if it is just visible it makes units more distinguishable and realistic, for example:

or

Would appear on Englands men at arms shields, as in the first in-game pic.

---------------------------------------------
Also do we all agree that each nations unique unit takes the longest and most expensive to build? In reality, the longbowman for example took years and years to master and were also the only practise allowed to train on Sundays on the traditional religious rest day.
What are peoples thoughts?

i dont think they should be really accurate. because they were grouped together and fired at a blob of men. not individuals

Agreed, they wont have a great deal of accuracy, the effect will be more of the archers firing at groups/formations, as this was how they were so deadly.

so make the archers have 3/4 killing of normal human life. so lets say 6oo points out of a 800 life
and make there accuracy 1 in 5?

ADDED
also. is the crusades gonna be in this?
