1. Installation
Just copy the files into your 'Cossacks - The Art of War' folder obeying the directiory structure in the zip file. Which means: Copy the 'Portobelo Raid' directory and the file 'Portobelo Raid.add' into the folder 'User Missions' and copy the file 'Portobelo Raid.m3d' into the main folder of the game. Then start the game and select 'single player - single mission'.
2. Introduction
In 1668 the english pirate Sir Henry Morgan landed with a goup of over 300 men near Portobelo, one of the best fortified towns in spanish america. Morgan was aware that most of the fortifications were build to protect the city against an attack from the sea, so he opted for a land attack. After heavy fighting Morgan managed to take the town by resorting to measures spreading his notorious fame all over the world: He used the clergy of the town as shields while storming the fort. Porto Belo was a rich prize. The treasure fleet was due in a couple of months and vast amounts of gold and silver fell into the hands of the pirates. This mission is a loose adaptation of this story.
Some tips: Go on carefully and slowly. You cant use any formations (pirates did not fight in formations) so you have to change your planing a bit. Lay units in contingents of 40 onto the numerical keys (CTRL+<KEY>) to be able to access them easily.
My advise is not to look at the map by cheats or by using it as a random map, because it spoils the fun. Take the following map for orientation, you have landed in the southwest corner of the map. Use light cavalry for reconnescence. You will get some in the course of the game.

3. Design notes
The historical event has only been taken as a background story. The stroyline in the mission is fictional. Some ideas are not yet implemented and some porblems involved with invoking timers several times (to have cyclic events) remain unsolved. Maybe the next version by GSC fill fix it.
