Here is an update, have been tweaking around with the longbowman and how he should look, these are not the final unit, just an idea, I'm thinking of making the tunic longer.

Below is the longbowman with head cloth under helmet (longbowman were always very lightly armoured) he also features a short sword scabbard for his short sword for melee attack.

Yeh I will, will make them pink for the national colour. They are very very early drafts, I will be doing more work, will be moving the short sword sheath/scabbard more to the side of the body, and may change the length of the tunic. Im getting the look right, then I will do all the animations; attack with bow, walk, melee attack with short sword etc. Im going to make the death animation look really good, he will drop his bow and fall to his knees will look realistic!

I'm hoping to get the stone keep/tower to look similar to this, to me its the perfect looking one:

Its off Arundel Castle.

Any ideas on the best program to make it with?

i suggest u do like i do. eather make it compleatly in 3d max. or use sketch up and then ezport it for 3d max.want me to make it?

Its weird, I make my death animation really good and bloody. It might mean I see it as a tragic dramatic scene in a soldiers life (unfortunately) . Or Im just crazy. (crazy!)

Btw you just making the tower or the whole castle?

i like my death anamations. pikeman are stabed and fall to knees then onto gorund. musketeers are shot body turns 90 ish degreese and falls onto his side.

That would be fantastic if you could, making buildings is hard for me, I can handle the units no problems. Im going to have to learn building making its something I have always wanted to do.

Do you need anymore pics, I have a good one in a castle book from another angle. I just think its the best looking keep by far, love the architecture of it and the colour. How close do you think you can get it to the original?
Obviously its just the round tower, not the other section connected to it. And what do you think about all the arrow slits/holes, should the render have that many?

Just the tower for now, if [hwk]poppen doesn't mind we can turn it into the castle, have the 4 keeps on each corner and then the big main castle in the middle, or can even do a new castle, In my opinion they need to be big strong looking castles/buildings that define landscape. A good example is the spanish/french/english forts in American Conquest, which are massive and done to scale. Only difference is the keeps and castles should be taller.

what i sugest is make the towers in a few differnt angles. then make walls. bridges. that way people arnt kept to one design for castles. and they can make there own
