I have been making and playing some new maps lately. So I have added another 7 skirmish maps for C2 1.3. They will also work on 1.4. Hope you enjoy them!

Well I have been asked to give some descriptions on my maps, but since I do not write all that well I will instead describe my philosophy  on map making.

My passion is on-line play, so my maps are designed around balance for each side.

First I make a map that I would like to play. This means an average amount of resources. balance in that neither side is closer to any resource than the other. Since I believe that the maps in C2 are too small, I try to position the opponents at the furthest position of the map, and use all corners.

I try to build a map with 2 sides. Normally a dividing line such as a river, or mountain range, that could be defended from a rush.

I try to leave an open area for fortifications, should you last long enough to build one. (many maps do not have an area large enough to build one and I hated that.)

Beyond that I tried to get creative  with the formation of villages. I think I have finally been able to get the farms correct. And I have tried to get creative with gold, coal, and iron villages, by placing them in, or on hills/mountains. Forming mountain trails in the rock. (not easy for me to do).

I also have tried to create at least one Town on each map, that has no value other than decoration. (mainly just because they are fun to build).

Beyond that I have played with the starting amount of peasants. and starting resources. I feel this allows different builds, and strategies. And just in general it keeps the game fresh.

Well there you go on my ideas of what a good map consists of. I would welcome any other ideas.

Thanks, and good gaming!

I'd like to thank everyone who has uploaded their own files (maps,...) to this site so far.

Just one remark. Please compress your files before uploading with winrar or winzip to minimize the space used.
The MB space available on the site is limited.
Same goes for images, I prefer .jpg, .png over .bmp

Thanks for your understanding.

Regards

Few words from [HKA]Warren to Cossacks Community:

"Hello west guys, privet east friends!

I, my mates from kozacy.org, lcn admin [-SKY-]Bo[JI]K, [HKA]Sav, [-NEC-]Akoo, technical admin [GeV]Koko and great player [PR]ELENDOR organize next fantastic tourney. Now we want invite players from all earth's nations, even Eskimos and Zulu Chakas. ;) Our main mind is "Tourny without BORDERS", and we know, we can do it now!

So...

Some info about New World Order Cup!

1. Tourney System:

1.a Main Info:

Tournament consists of 2 rounds. First stage is regional elimination for 2nd round, which is played as a play off. Groups will be 4-7, it depends on number of participants. First proposal for regional stage is share players for these groups:

1- Polish group (1 or 2 groups) Forum language: Polish;
2- Russian group (1) Forum language: Russian;
3- Ukrainian group (1) Forum language: Russian/Ukrainian;
4- Hungarian group (1) Forum language: Hungarian/English;
5- West group (1) Forum language: English;
6- Mix group (1) Forum language: English or Russian

Min. 5 players in each group. In anormal situation we'll add some non-regional players to the smallest groups.

1.b Groups:

Every group has own administrator and language. 8 players with best lcn rank don't play in first stage. They start competition in play off round as 'favourites'.

2. Rules:

Our main mind is "tourney without borders"- for nationality, rules and skills, so we put in NWO cup five most popular rules from LCN and one organisator's rule- they're 1000 0pt, 5000 0pt, 5000 10pt (adm rules), 5000 20pt no dc, $$$ def 10pt and $$$ def 0pt.

In groups we play one game in rules of player "x" and one game in rules of player "y". If game score will be 1:1 then gamers play one extra game on extra rule choosen by organisators. Different extrarule for each group.

In play offs participants use all rules from "rules list" until somebody has 2 points advantage, e.g 2:0, 3:1. If score will be 3:3 then players play extragame on rule 5000 20pt WITH dc (like diff liga).

2.a Codex:

a) Raids allowed on all rules alltime in all map (neutral too), also before finish the peace time.

b) Auto save for all nominations - 2 min or 4 min.

c) Cheats are prohibited, include Macros. Pomor patch is allowed.

d) Unnecessary discussions between players will be punished.

3. Other:

Prize:

1 dollar for 1 participants for 1st place. E.G 60 players in cup= 60 dollars for the winner. Maximum 64 dollars.

Timetable:

20th November- 23th December 2011

Some off the larger files in the download section which were uploaded to gamefront are no longer available. This is an error on my side, since I just uploaded them there but never submitted them for permanent storage.
I will reupload those files properly this time over the coming days.
It has not affected the smaller downloads ( <10MB ) since these are hosted on the ucoz.co.uk server.
I would like to encourage any user who finds a non working download link to report them either here by leaving a comment below or by leaving a comment on the actual download entry.

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Great news for strategy fans - the highly-acclaimed and best-selling Cossacks: Back to War is now available for digital download on Steam service.

As opposed to the old release, the game is now optimized to run on both Vista and Windows 7 OS. Very catchy and any-system-friendly (even netbooks can run it!), the game is only $3.99 for the full version.

cdv USA has it's own new English forums now, and toghether with their own site, they are more independant now from the German cdv who's forum's are down again at the moment due to whatever reason.

You can visit them on http://forums.cdvusa.com

Some of the recent posts may have dissapeared due to the forum downtime but all the older posts have been preserved.

For the rest, Cichor has been archiving some of the old Cossacks 1 maps for European Wars here on the site. You can find them in the new C1 map section.

- Missing Files:
Some of the file's in the Upload ~ download section seem to be gone from the filefront server for an unknown reason. So if you run in to an "filefront" error page, please be patient, we will try to restore the files as soon as possible. It's mainly the bigger downloads that are hosted on filefront. The smaller files are hosted on the site here and are still there.

I truly apologize for any inconvenience, please sent all your hatemail to filefront ;-)

- New Pages:
After seeing the results of the last poll, I created a couple of new CII Modding pages & CII Editor Pages:
I will add more information on some of the unfinished Battle Editor Pages on how to actually set up a script for a scenario/Battle later this week or next week. I will also try to finish the new F.A.Q Section , ScreenShot section & Mods Section when I find some time for it.

As always, if you want to see specific information on a particular subject, leave a message in the forum and I'll try to do my best.

- New Moderator:

I would also like to take the opportunity to introduce a new moderator for the Cossacks II forums: [HWK]Poppen. He is motivated & dedicated to wargames and knows a thing or two about modding aswell. He is also creating an American Revolution Mod at the moment, so I'm sure he will be a valuable asset to the team.

Kind Regards
